What did you miss?
Top Marketers Network kicked off 2019 with a scintillating speaker: trend watcher Lieke Lamb.
2019 will be the year of the Digital Maze. Due to the digital obligations of business and government, people are more or less losing control over their own lives, while on the other hand, agencies know more and more about them through license plate registration, camera surveillance; social media networks etc. People are looking for the GGG balance: Convenience; User-friendliness and Data Protection (privacy). In 2019 it will become even more extreme: banks will be obliged to make our payment data available to other organizations (without a banking license) for free once a customer gives permission. As a result, a consumer’s (payment) behavior can be followed very closely. Lieke therefore gave a lot of attention to the desirability of certain developments.
With the rapid pace of change, there is no longer a generation gap but a generation canyon. The new job fields and titles that have emerged say nothing to our parents, while the jobs that our children will soon occupy do not even exist yet. Education will have to respond to this.
Lieke took us through countless technological possibilities, which, by the way, seem to be limitless. Her relatable message is that the concepts never change, only the manifestations. A chair remains a chair, a cart with a horse may become a single-seater helicopter but it is still about transportation from A to B. Even the greatest innovations still need to bring a relevant application. If that is insufficient, as in the case of Google Glass, for example, they perish.
Finally, an important topic was “the human touch” that is going to come precisely from technology in the coming years. For example, robots that don’t even have to look like humans and can still convincingly be a “buddy” for the elderly.
Participants rated the session an average of 8. A successful evening!
