Strengthen the direction of your interim career
“Just turn it on in that first week and live up to my hourly rate.” I heard an interim professional say it the other day. It is a typical phrase for this profession.
There has been an application and negotiation, you are on board and now it has to happen in a new environment with new colleagues in an often challenging assignment. How do things run here? Where does the informal power lie? How do I get things done? How do I deal with resistance? What is the culture here?
I now see the challenge associated with that for interim professionals.
In 2020, I contacted Annelies Ruis – owner of WerfSelect. I was a former client of WerfSelect and switched from a marketing management role to coaching and training in 2018. This led me to provide many inspiration sessions over the past few years. And in 2023, I created a personal development program specifically for WerfSelect’s interim professionals.
What I’ve noticed over the past few years is that the average interim is primarily focused on the other person and the result. And that they do so with tremendous flexibility.
For the client, of course, that’s great.
But what about your own needs and managing your own energy? How do you quietly and joyfully carry out a task that suits you?
This is often a major challenge. Especially since many interim workers do not allow themselves time to work on their personal and business development.
During the assignment you are busy performing. And when the assignment is over there
is the stress of finding a new assignment. And so you are on a moving train where you are not at the
wheel.
It is precisely by stepping off that train every now and then that you come to the wheel, that peace of mind, more enjoyable assignments and more meaningful work are created.
How about you? To what extent do you do what you want to do? And do you find peace and joy in that?
During the Next Level Interim Management training we pay attention to this. The first
group liked the training so much that they continued as an intervision group. The second
group is now just over halfway and very enthusiastic.
In September we will start a new group. Something for you?
Here you will find all the info about the WerfSelect training Next level interim management.

PS. A tip in advance: go for a walk in nature without a cell phone. Not a quick one-hour walk. Walk slowly and without purpose. And ask yourself what you want to do or learn. You will find that some things will surface that you don’t find in the delusion of the day. The Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard says that the ideal walking speed is 4.5 kilometers per hour. At that pace, the most beautiful things are found. I’m curious to see what surfaces with you.
